Project
The wine house of Gran Canaria, situated in the FINCA “EL Galeón” in Santa Brígida, is part of the Project Vinest, which was co financed by the European Commission under the program RECITE II E.R.D.F.
The project had a budget of 640.000 € for Gran Canaria, from which the European Union financed 480.000 €, and the rest was financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. The duration of the first Project Vinest was from March 1999 until September 2001. Later, it was extended to a second project called Vinum-est which is run since August 2004, and which will endure until June 2007. Vinum-est is supported by the Vinest Network, Network for Small European Wine Areas.
The wine house of Gran Canaria is the local action with most importance under the Vinest project, not only because of its budget but also because of its importance in order to concentrate the wine sector in Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria Wine Museum model responds to the necessities of the wine sector, combining the presence of tourists and wine producers with technical assistance.
Under the characteristics of the Wine House of Gran Canaria, it should be mentioned that the transnational activity of wine quality improvement through the Vinest selection and the exposition and selling of the wines from small European wine areas, from countries like Hungary, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain.
The objective of the project, which is quality, should & needs to be present in the Wine House and therefore the wines exposed and sold have an extraordinary quality which makes this museum unique, for the quality that the Wine House offers its visitors.
Location
The wine House of Gran Canaria is situated in the FINCA el Galeón, in the Municipality of SANTA BRIGIDA, Calvo Sotelo street nº26, and zip code 35300, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
This location gives the house a value-added since it is situated close to the local market place “mercadillo municipal” and the future shopping centre of Santa Brígida which is under construction. A few meters from the House is the Vine plantation of the Agriculture Farm of Cabildo de Gran Canaria which expands the wine offer even more.

Services
The cultural aspect reflected in the museum is of great value, from a tourist’s point of view, considering that it can be combined with routes and guide visits to different wine cellars.
The actual installation has promising possibilities in the area of promotion and selling of local and Vinest areas wines, an aspect that can be developed through the shop as well as in the different events that could take place, in order to promote Gran Canaria and Vinest areas wines.
Regarding the training aspect, anyone who is interested in getting to know more about wine, and its culture, can do it, through a series of wine seminars, courses, tasting, initiation courses in wine culture and wine tasting, etc. The commercialization of the wines, through the shop, requires a management of it that not only considers it as a simple wine shop, but also as a tasting room and selling place of all products related with the wine, as well as local ecology gastronomy and other merchandising products.
In summary the wine house offers the following services.

These services provided by the Wine House are possible given the different rooms it has, like the, museum, Vinest room, tasting, meeting and conference rooms, as well as a shop where local quality wines are exposed and sold.
The activities and services mentioned earlier make the wine house a unique product, having the exposition and selling of the Vinest areas and Gran Canaria wines; give a distinguishing aspect of the Wine House.
The opening timetables are Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 14.00, Weekends and holidays closed.
The timetable is flexible to any events that can occur out of opening hours.
